Hallelujah, praise the living God for another day to pray for you all and be used by Him. Today I offer this from Thomas à Kempis
“This is the highest and most profitable lesson, truly to know and to despise ourselves. To have no opinion of ourselves, and to think always well and highly of others, is great wisdom and perfection.“
Ezra 7:10 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
10 For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the Lord and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.
Lord Jesus, Your servant prays for humility. A humility that is not self-judging, but other-focused. Place a greater concern for You, Your word, and others in this heart. Use us to teach others to serve with Your heart and to see Your children with Your eyes. Guide us into all understanding and shine brightly into our hearts to fill us with joy, peace, and love. Be our strength so we will succeed in all our works devoted to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
The message from Kempis is hard to hear when I consider the word despise. And yet, the message contained in Ezra, gives the reason. Pure focus on His purpose, His word, His work, His Way. Glory to Jesus is the eternal goal we have. Glory to self lives only a few seconds at best. Great message for all of us in this extraordinary time my brother. Thank you.

Had the same struggling reading Kempis and searched for God’s word. Some of the saints from the time really loathed the flesh and I think they could have used another dose of grace. Balance is not easy but with my brothers to the left and to the right and His Spirit at my center I will not stumble. ❤️
