I absolutely love to worship and certain songs will move me…but my theology is at conflict with some of the lyrics in songs that move me based on the non lyrical elements. Below is one that I love to sing, but have to change the words slightly. Does anyone else ever feel at odds with lyrics that seem to be unscriptural?
I made a few minor tweaks that make me feel better about my horrible caterwauling to our Lord.
“Here As In Heaven”
The atmosphere is changing now
For the Spirit of the Lord is here (pointing to my heart and soul)
The evidence is all around
That the Spirit of the Lord is here (pointing to my heart and soul)
Overflow in this place (pointing to my heart and soul)
Fill our hearts with Your love
Your love surrounds us
You’re the reason we came
To encounter Your love
Your love surrounds us
Spirit of God fall fresh on please refresh us
We need Your presence Wisdom
Your kingdom come
Your will be done
Here as in heaven
A miracle can happen now
For the Spirit of the Lord is here (pointing to my heart and soul)
The evidence is all around
That the Spirit of the Lord is here (pointing to my heart and soul)
